What are triploids? Triploids have three sets of chromosomes (4N + 2N = 3N) instead of the usual two in diploids. Common in agriculture for seedless fruits like bananas, grapes, and watermelons. Why triploids? Triploid plants are mostly sterile, producing denser, more resinous flowers, larger yields, and enhanced aromas.
